Cupping therapy or massage cupping therapy, is a therapeutic process in which a massage cupping therapist applies special cups to your skin to create gentle to deep suction. People get cupping therapy for many reasons, including...
pain
inflammation
improved blood and lymph flow
connective tissue release
muscle release
relaxation general well-being
moves stagnant energy and raises vibration
separation of clenched layers of tissue
Cups are generally made of:
Glass
Bamboo
Earthenware
Silicone and Hard Plastic (this is what Om Shanti uses)
Cupping therapy is currently trendy now, but it’s not new. Its roots date back to ancient Egyptian, Chinese, and Middle Eastern cultures. The Ebers Papyrus (one of the oldest medical textbooks in the world) describes how ancient Egyptians used massage cupping therapy in 1550 BCE.
Modern Cupping Therapy
Om Shanti uses the modern method of cupping utilizing silicone or hard plastic cups with a pump to create the vacuum inside the cup.
The use of silicone cups is less intense then the hard plastic and both styles may be used in one session.
We can talk more about cupping therapy and how it can benefit your overall well-being.
