Equine Trigger Point Therapy
Equine trigger Point Therapy
The equine enthusiast will nurture and care for the horses they ride and love. It is important to also honor your own needs to eliminate pain from your life. Ideally, I would love to see both of you for sessions to treat your pain and your horse's pain. The primary reason, simply to keep you both in synch with each other and feeling your very best on trail or in competition.
The equine enthusiast will know if their horse looks off or has a new pain they are communicating, carries you differently or behavior has changed etc. You know your horse can feel your energy and when you are off, they will respond. Best to keep you both feeling awesome.

Call me to talk about your horse and book a session. Jill 970-310-4522
This is what a session looks like.
1. Call me to book it because travel time is included and I need to book out the day. Jill 970-310-4522
2. We will meet at your barn, talk about your concerns and I can synch up with their energy. I will need you to walk your horse so I can see the gate, watch for deviations and restrictions in movement according to your info. Watch for signs of pain, clenching and develop a treatment plan for the session.
3. I will palpate slowly while feeling into their energy and body language. We engage and their eyes tell me if it's very sore there. They do lean into my pressure also telling me it feels good. I feel for trigger points and adhesions, hold and release resulting in softer more supple tissue. As the trigger releases the pain goes away.
4. My approach is gentle and slow with the respect of your horse as my top priority. They need time after deep work to process and walk so we honor those moments every time. I also like to see a walk during session to observe change and modify accordingly.
5. After session it is ecouraged to stretch your horse or go for a ride. This will accentuate the treatment.
Serving Fort Collins, Bellevue, Laporte, Masonville, Wellington, Tinmath, Windsor, Loveland

What is a trigger point?
An isolated cluster of hot pain within the muscle fibers.
Trigger Point Therapy works the same on people as it does on your horse. It softens clenched hot spots of pain and the pain goes away. The layers of tissue immediately begin to heal because the tension release has offered space for hydration, nutrients, blood, water and lymph to flow. This lubricates the layers to better slide , glide, stretch and contract. When the tissue is healthy and gets all it needs, it doesn't hurt.
How can a trigger point pain effect my ride?
Imagine carrying around even a 5o lb bag of grain on your back and walking a mile while you already had back pain to start, not fun. Extra energy burned on balance, focus, moving with added pain of the weight of you on their back.
It can also effect the horses behavior and mood, just like a human pain drains and it will drain your horse and make it crabby as well.
Where are trigger points usually found?
- Left side from mounting, withers
- Spinal erector pain, Sacral and SI pain and tension where the saddle sits
- Psoas, Illiacus, scapula, lat, quads, hams, etc
- Poll from bridal and down the neck to withers to sacrum.
What are the benefits of trigger point therapy?
- Happy and grateful horse
- No pain by the re hydration and healing of soft issue
- Healthier tissue
- Increase range of motion
- More stable foot
- More pleasurable for them to ride you around
- Softer back, hips, shoulders, poll etc
-AGAIN .. Happy and grateful horse, which we all want
